What Is Physiotherapy?

Every Physiotherapy appointment begins with a thorough assessment. The goal of this assessment is to identify the true cause of your pain rather than just treating symptoms.

Once we understand where your pain is coming from, we look at why it is happening and what needs to change to stop it recurring. Using this information, we create a tailored treatment plan and a personalised rehabilitation programme to guide you on your road to recovery.

The most important thing we do during this session is listen. This information allows us to focus treatment on what matters most to you and get you pain free as efficiently as possible. We take time to understand how your condition affects you by discussing:

What your pain stops you from doing
How it affects your day to day life
How it impacts the people around you such as family or colleagues
Your short term and long term goals

Frequently Asked Questions

What Can I Expect During a Session?

Physiotherapy sessions vary from person to person. Every appointment is tailored specifically to your needs and your goals.

We do not rely on machines or technology. The most important part of recovery from pain is movement. We compare how you currently move with how you want and need to move. From there, we tailor treatment towards improving your movement and confidence.

You are encouraged to guide the pace and intensity of the session. We work with you, not on you.

Manual Therapy is sometimes used as part of treatment, and in certain cases you may be shown simple manual techniques you can perform yourself during your rehabilitation to support your recovery between sessions.

Is Physiotherapy Suitable for My Injury?

Physiotherapy is suitable for the majority of aches, pains, and injuries. If you have a new injury and feel Physiotherapy may help, you can book a session at a time that suits you.

If you are unsure whether we can help, or if you feel nervous about what Physiotherapy involves, we recommend booking a Free Discovery Session.

Many people with ongoing pain have already tried other treatments or seen multiple practitioners with limited success. The Free Discovery Session allows you to decide if we are the right fit for each other and whether you feel confident in our approach. There is no cost and no obligation.

What Happens During a Discovery Session?

A Discovery Session closely mirrors the initial part of a Physiotherapy appointment.

It begins with a 10 to 15 minute conversation where your Physiotherapist asks questions to help determine the cause of your pain. We focus on how your pain affects your daily life and what you want to get back to doing.

We then explain how we may be able to help you reduce pain, improve your quality of life, and return to activities you enjoy. You will also gain a clear understanding of how we work and what is required before starting treatment.

Most importantly, if we feel we are not the right service for you, we will tell you and advise you on the most appropriate next step.

Is My Visit Covered by Health Insurance?

Physiotherapy sessions are redeemable under most major health insurance providers. Reimbursement levels vary depending on your individual plan, so we recommend checking directly with your insurer.

Treatment costs are tax deductible, and you can claim 20 percent tax relief on medical expenses. To do this, download and complete the MED1 form from the Revenue website at revenue.ie and submit it to your local tax office.

Physiotherapy treatments are also covered under the Garda Insurance Scheme.

Free Consultation

If you are unsure whether physiotherapy can help, we offer a free consultation at our clinic or over the phone. This session allows our therapists to:
Assess your condition
Advise if physiotherapy will benefit you
Explain next steps without any financial commitment
